PUBLISHING TIMELINE – Q&A (Purpose Driven Publishers)
Q1: How long does the publishing process take?
A: Our publishing process takes 45 days. This is our production timeline and covers formatting, cover design, setup, and publication.
Q2: When does the 45-day timeline start?
A: The 45-day timeline begins after three things are completed:
1. The manuscript is finalized and approved
2. Payment arrangements are confirmed
3. The ISBN is issued
Once these are in place, production begins immediately.
Q3: Why doesn’t the 45 days start immediately after payment?
A: Before production can begin, certain pre-production steps must be completed—especially the issuance of the ISBN, which is handled by the national ISBN agency (NALIS). This ensures accuracy and prevents errors during publishing.
Q4: How long does it take to receive the ISBN?
A: ISBN processing typically takes up to 7–10 working days. This step is completed first and is required before formatting and upload can begin.
Q5: Is the ISBN processing time included in the 45 days?
A: No. The ISBN processing period is a pre-production step and is not included in the 45-day production timeline. The 45 days begin after the ISBN is issued.
Q6: Why is the ISBN needed before publishing begins?
A: The ISBN must be included in the book’s interior and used during setup with distributors such as Amazon. Applying for it after production begins would cause delays and rework.
Q7: Can the process be rushed to start sooner?
A: We do not rush ISBN issuance or production steps, as accuracy and professionalism are important. Our timeline is designed to ensure quality, compliance, and a smooth publishing experience.
Q8: What if my manuscript or title changes during the process?
A: Changes to the manuscript, title, or publishing format after the ISBN is issued may require adjustments and can affect timelines. We strongly encourage final approval before ISBN application.
Q9: Will my book still be published on time?
A: Yes. Once the ISBN is issued and production begins, we remain committed to completing the publishing process within the 45-day timeline as stated in our agreement.
Q10: Where is this timeline explained officially?
A: The full timeline and start date are clearly outlined in our publishing agreement, which is reviewed and agreed upon before production begins.
